It is when the woman makes the decision to end the relationship and begins to reorganize her life and regain power that post-separation violence occurs.
It is during this period that the strategies of domination and control exercised by the ex-partner transform, multiply, and persist, thus exposing the woman and her children to a great risk of threat to their safety which may even go as far as feminicide and infanticide.
